Advance Driver Training is the sister company of McMenamin Commercials, based on the outskirts of Letterkenny Advance Driver Training is a family owned and run business that specialise in driver tuition and driver associated courses.
Our RSA approved driving instructors provide driving tuition for car, car & trailer, bus, coach and trucks (both rigid and articulated). Our instructors also carry out transport related courses such as driver CPC (Certificate Of Professional Competence)
B- Car
If you need to tow a Trailer with a Jeep or Car with a gross vehicle weight of over 750Kg
then you must hold a full BE Licence.
Without the correct licence (category BE), you are not insured and could be prosecuted.
Your category ‘B’ (Car) driving licence only covers you to drive a vehicle up to 750kg & trailer up to 750kg.
- You must hold a full car licence category ‘B’.
- Pass your category ‘B’, ‘C’ or ‘D’ theory test (If you have passed the theory test in the past you DON’T need to do it again).

Age Requirement – In order to obtain a learner permit for a minibus or coach you must
already possess a full licence for a car (category B) and be 21 years of age with CPC.
Learner Permit Required? Yes for Category D
